Accredited Investors only

Multi Family Office

Accredited investors meet specific standards defined by securities regulators which allow the potential funders to invest in certain private and public securities offerings. Most companies raising money do so from accredited investors only. While the standards vary somewhat between jurisdictions, to invest through the Accelera Multi-Family Office firm potential investors must at least meet the USA, Brazil, Canadá or European accreditation requirements, depending on their fiscal residence jurisdiction and laws.

The USA SEC web site contains the full definition under US law, about accredited investors. In general, an investor must meet one of the following standards (in US dollars) to be accredited:

  • Individuals with annual income over US $200K (individually) or US $300K (with spouse) in each of the last 2 years and an expectation of the same this year
  • Individuals with net assets over US $1 million, excluding the primary residence (unless more is owed on the mortgage than the residence is worth)
  • An institution with over US $5 million in assets, such as a venture fund or a trust
  • An entity made up entirely of accredited investors

An accredited investor is a person or entity who is allowed to deal, trade and invest in financial securities as long as they satisfy one (or more) requirements regarding income, net worth, asset size, governance status or professional experience.

Non-USA funders and investors should review the standards under their fiscal jurisdiction, residence and local law.

The OSC web site (Canadian SEC equivalent) contains the full definition of accreditation requirements that are also applicable to Canadian funders and investors, which in general require meeting at least one of the following standards (in CAD dollars):

  • Individuals with annual income over CAD $200K (individually) or CAD $300K (with a spouse) in each of the last 2 years and an expectation of the same this year
  • Individuals who, either alone or with a spouse, beneficially own financial assets having an aggregate realizable value that before taxes, but net of any related liabilities, exceeds CAD $1 million.
  • Individuals who, either alone or with a spouse, have net assets of at least CAD $5 million.
